What happened?

Poated this but cant find it.my 986blost substantial coolant on Monday..we added more after it cooled....then lost it again.Towed to a shop here, very reluable and honest guys Ive used for years.they could not find a leak..kept it 4 days, pressure tested drove it in 90 plus degrees and no leak still.i picked it up drove home no leak. Showed 180 on the gauge but red light was flashing. wtf? If it does it again i
Dont know what to do.the shop didnt charge me..the nearest grtman car specialist is 40 minutes drive.could it be crackbin lower coolant reservoir?

Gauge light flashing means you are low on coolant. Pull back the trunk carpet and check the coolant tank hoses. That is where mine leaked.

still no diagnosis, and no further leakage.I took the car into a not so near shop that does imports mainly German.Certified techs are Porsche trained and own a few too. They found a leaky aos and say my cv boots will need replacement. All else was ok, pressure tested, no leaks.Still no answer for the original problem, but the car seems fine and I will drive it and keep an eye on the temp.

Check overflow cap.
They are known to fail.
Went for a group drive one car puked lots of coolant after a long uphill grade.
You would of sworn it was a major leak.
We got some water to fill it up.
He found his cap was loose.
Didn't have any problems rest of trip.
Hope yours is something simple.

Bernie

Look at the cap, the number stamped on it should end “-04” if it is the latest cap.

Don't bet on it, your "host" has played very fast and loose with the what the term "OEM" actually means for years, which is why we don't do business with them
