Sound Package Plus

OK, so I'm ready to order my 2-DIN kit from Loi and my head unit. I've now discovered that the car doesn't have a Bose system, but has the "Sound Package Plus" upgrade, which includes an ASK Amp in the luggage compartment. Is this little amp going to give me a headache when I try to install the new Pioneer head unit?

George, I went to there website and it's not very helpful. If I had to guess? It probably has high level, to low level inputs on it. Meaning it takes the speaker wires for the deck (high level) in and converts that to a low level input, to run the audio portion of any head unit, (CD player, radio, ETC) Or it may have RCA jacks, like you're use to seeing on your home stereo, (output to input) If it has high level, speaker output from head unit, direct in to amp. NO. If it has a screw on it somewhere to adjust the levels. The deck to the amp. If it has low levels in. (RCA jacks) Definitely not. Just like a home stereo. But I doubt it is wired that way. If you can find helpful info on the amp and post it here. I can help. I went to there website and was unable to locate any info. Like a destruction manual... for the amp.

Thanks Randy. I emailed Loi at euro motorspeed and he informed me that the harness that comes with the 2-DIN kit has a wire that will wake the ASK amp. They've thought of everything!

He's been extremely helpful and professional. He's answered all my questions to my satisfaction and I went ahead and ordered the kit from him as well as the head unit from Amazon.

I'm totally stoked!

It dawned on me that one of my best friends is a certified HVAC/electrician, so he's coming out next Saturday to help me install the unit. He also knows his way around car stereos.

WOOHOO!

Great George. We like plug and play! The fewer wires that need to hacked, the better! Let us know the out come.

Yup, the amp is a pretty standard upgrade for the Boxster - I think my two Boxsters have it installed. I don't think there's anything special about the amp, so you should be able to interface it with no problem as the guys at the shop said.
