What are the Clutch Disc Thickness specs?
2003 Boxster We just dropped the transmission to fix the oil leak / replace the IMS bearing.
I can't find the specs on the Boxster clutch disc service limits and new disc thickness. My 911 new was 8mm thick, but nowhere in Wayne's 101 Boxster or the Bentley manual does it give the Disc thickness. Oh and coincidentally the disc that came out of the Boxster is 8mm thick too. ![]() Thanks for any info.

I've checked the Porsche factory Boxster and 996 manuals, and this information seems to be absent from there. I sent a note to my supplier asking them if they had this info, I will post it if I find out.

It seems the pressure plate "finger" springs wear enough from T/O bearing contact to alter engagement point enough to require replacement before you can wearout the disc.

throw out bearing
Interestingly, the replacement TO bearing from pelican had a hard plastic wear surface on it where it touched the pressure plate fingers.
The old TO bearing did not have this material, it was metal surface of the fingers contacting metal surface of the throw out bearing. This new TO bearing was about 1mm thicker than the one that came out all of that thickness being that hard plastic surface. So either the old one wore all of the plastic surface away in 75K miles, or the replacement bearing is an upgrade. Richard

They are constantly upgrading parts throughout the years, so this type of change wouldn't surprise me...
