Anyone use Rotella T6 5w-40 oil

Lookin for oil for my 987 cant find Mobile 1 5w-40 except for Diesel truck oil in 5w-40

Found Rotella T6 5w-40 $20 per gallon this is full synthetic oil, any yall use this stuff in your 986/987? I use the Rotella oil in my toyota truck.

AND what about the Mbile 1 0w-40 it is approved by Porsche.

The short answer: Nope Castrol Syntec 5W40 has been my oil of choice since being weened off Mobil 1.
The long answer: Oils: What motor oil should I use? Which oil is best for my Porsche or aircooled engine?

I'll be switching to Syntec as well. Based on a recommendation of a very knowledgeable member of this site.

Sounds like syntec will be a good choice AND it readily available, this will be the first oil change since I purchased the car and it has about 42k miles on it. I'll be changing the oil about every 5k miles and I dont like changing brands/viscosity of oils so I want to use something that will be available every time.

I believe all oils since the late 80's do not have the zinc (don't quote me on the time frame). The EPA got ride of them. It does something to cats and increases emmissions. Race oils still contain it however. but race oils generally lack the acid neutralizers and detergents required for longer drain intervals. I use a synthetic oil and add ZDDP (purchased separately) on my own

I am sure there are other ways to boost the additive package especially zinc, but I add two quarts of Mobile one motorcycle 10-40 to the 0-40 refill. Super high in zinc. I may bump it up after the oil change and oil analysis to see what the residual values are.
I woud be interested to the the published levels of additives in the syntec. I believe syntec is a synthetic blend, not sure. Blends can be any thing from almost 100 percent synthetic to only a small percentage.
Moblie one has a link some where that gives all the percentages.

I found this very well done, very long article on oils, explains lots of "stuff" about oils, I actually read about 90% of it....

I read it until I realized he had an Enzo and Maybach as well as a Maranello, then I was too depressed about my life to proceed
