Valve cover leak

I have oil seeping from the left valve cover. Does Porsche make a gasket or is it just valve cover sealant or both?

Thanks in advance.

the covers use a sealant. Are you sure it isn't a spark plug tube or something else higher up the engine?

My mechanic just did my 60k and told me he noticed oil seeping from the left valve cover. Do the tubes hold oil? This is my first Porsche so I'm kinda still learning.

Thanks in advance

From what I've been told resealing a cam cover is a pain. If you go to the tech section I believe Wayne has writeups on both proceedures. Even if you don't do the work you can visualize what needs to be done.

If I was you, I would start with cleaning that side of the motor and diagnosing where the leak is coming from. The spark plug tubes have o rings at both ends which leak oil over time. Also the plastic plug tubes crack with repeated heating/cooling cycles also leading to oil leakage.
The plug tubes and o rings are an easy fix and cheap by comparison to pulling cam covers.
If you do plug tubes and o rings yourself, it should not cost you anymore than 3 hrs of your time and $100 for parts. Do spark plugs while in there and add a few$$.
I recently did my o rings. Out of 6 cylinders only one plug tube was cracked. All o rings replaced.
