Top latch issue

99 Boxster base. The fixed nuts for the "catch" for the top latch, located within the windshield frame, look as if they have actually cracked apart, and will no longer hold the bolts securely. I have tried the old stranded wire, toothpick, etc. method of obtaining a purchase, to no avail. The nuts have no more integrity. The bolts will stay put, sort of, and that seems to hold the top secure when closed, but the black plastic catch that contains the light comes very loose when the top is down.
Has anyone experienced this? I haven't found it on any other threads, but am not great at locating things (according to my wife). Any suggestions on a fix. Seems to me that the nuts are enclosed in the frame without hope of replacement.
Thanks!

I have the same issue and Porsche won't respond to my emails. The dealer has no part listed and it appears that they were changed from a pot-metal spit nut to a solid steel nut in 2000.
The dealer said the body shop installed weld nuts but I don't see how not to butcher the frame up. I was considering a Rivnut, but it needs to float and the hole is too big. I will machine a nutplate if nothing is found by the dealer this week. I will keep posting when I get the fix.

thx,
