Thanks to you all!!!!!!

Mother Nature decided to wipe out my '00 986s, in a weather event here in Tucson. Progressive gave a more than generous settlement; however I was unable to locate a replacement (anywhere) w/ silver over red, and under 60k mi.

So I pulled a bit more money out of the mattress (safest place and highest interest these days), found an '04 C4S cab w/ a new motor from Stuttgartt, and that's what I'm starting over with now. More (much) car than I need, but the Buddist say "want what you have".

So thanks and god bless you all for being such a swell bench racing advisory group, for so long! Got lots of goodies and parts left over from my 986s, let me know if you want a list... Bently & Waynes new book, for openers.
Adios,
Andy (Superglide)

How did the weather event take your car but not the cash in the mattress?!?

Curious to hear your impressions / comparisons of the two cars. A C4 was high on my list before buying my brother's Cayman S (albeit not a C4S or a cab). Here in the Midwest AWD is a big plus!

well, we had what is known as a micro-burst; a very localized mini hurricane, lasting up to 30 mins. I could see nothing, and proceeded slowly from the stop light I was at, in the left lane, right into the center divider, and it's signpost which wiped out the left front corner, I thought. Upon inspection it was discovered that the front pan was folded back upon itself, requiring a bare front clip from Porsche at $7,000+.

So Progressive totaled it and wrote me a check for $21k, less my $500 deductable. Went on the net, found a perfect '04 C4S, w/ a warranteed factory motor installed last March, in a distress sale for $32k. Cash is King, these days; had to grab a further $12k out of the mattress (best interest rate in town), flew from Tucson to Dayton OH, did the deal, and had a great 2100 mile drive home, getting to know the car.

As to my impressions, best put is when I returned from Viet Nam in '69 and got out of the Marines, I came home to my '60 Super 90 cab. At this same time; my Dad bought a new '69 Riviera GS w/ the dual quad option. When he finally let me drive it, the difference between it and my S-90 was the same difference between my 986s and the C4S.... Need a Bentley manual and Wayne's New Book?
Semper Fi,
Andy
