Wayne, I just ordered the L&N thermostat for a 2001 986S from Pelican today, and have one question. If I remove the OEM thermostat while the car is on ramps, can I just reuse what coolant drains out, or do I also have to perge the system of air also? thanks for any additional information.

Yes and yes - you should be able to reuse coolant, but you will still have to go through the coolant bleeding process that is documented in the coolant flush article in our tech articles section here.

I have just completed this project in my 986 2001S.
I chose to re use the old coolant. By doing this, I knew that what came out, must fit back in. So no guess work as to whether everything is OK before you lock it all up. I did however spill some, maybe 1ltr, and the reservoir is now full without that 1ltr. |
