Stop light switch replacement

 Stop lights won't come on. Checked fuses, and they are ok. Dealer wants over $200.00 to replace switch. I bought a switch, but can't get at the old one. How do you replace that thing?

Are you talking about the brake switch located at the brake pedal?
First, unplug the cable, then you need to rotate the switch 90deg to unclip it (any direction). You can hear a "click" and it's out.
You might also want to replace the clutch one (same principle)

Cost of the part: less than 20$
Time: 5 minutes

The switch at the brake pedal is quite easy to replace. The biggest issue is to get into position under the steering wheel to find the switch. Once you have found it, you need to disconnect the electrical connector and then push in and twist to release. There should be two switches that look the same, but are different colors. One is for the cruise control, the other for the brake lights. Also, there is a good article on this site on replacement. Just search on Boxster Brake Switch.
