Boxster 986 Window Issue
I have an interesting issue with my 2001 Boxster 986 Driver side window. The window generally goes up and down fine using the switch. The motor is OK and the switch are fine. When I roll the window all the way up, and then try to open the door from inside or outside, the window does not move slightly down to break the seal. I can hear it attempt to move down, but it does not move down. After forcing open with top of window scraping the roof, I can push the window down with my hand. It moves down the distance you would normally expect it to move via the automatic mechanism.
I'm about ready to tear the door apart, but was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. My suspicion is that it could be the clamps on the window have worked a little loose, but that does not make complete sense since the window does move down fine via the switch. I have a used regulator and motor that I have purchased, but not sure I want to go through the hassle of removing the door trim as it appears that some of it is already glued in place. Thanks, Devin 2001 Orient Red Boxster |

I had the same issue last year. I replaced the Window Regulator and that fixed the issue.

if you can hear the actuator trying to lower the window when you open the door and the window doesn't move it is a sign that the window regulator is getting ready to fail
