I appreciate all the advice. I have always wanted to get to purchase a Porsche Boxster. I was not aware off all the issues being mentioned. I recently test drove a 1997 Boxster with 8000 miles. It sees from the noted comments that it is a russian roulette situation whether there is little mileage on vehicle or high mileage. Any advice? Dont get it?

In 8000 miles, not too much could have gone wrong already. I would not worry about it. I would buy the car, change the oil immediately, and then keep changing it every 3000-5000 miles max. I think you'll have a car that will last a long, long time.
