Topic Starter... what is it about pick-up trucks always wanting to race Boxsters?
I have owned my Boxster for all of 2 days and every good ol' boy with a "pick-em-up" has found the need to rev and race and nearly every stoplight I encounter.
I have heard of this phenom from a few other Boxster owners... any good Boxster Pick-Up stories out there? P.S. I own a Jeep and used to own a Land Rover so I am not anti truck/anti SUV... just noticed this strange occurance.

It aint just Boxsters. I have all kinds of P.O.S. cars and trucks try and race me when I'm in my SC.

The best is when I'm in my 914-6 and people want to show off how much faster (they think) their car is than my 200-HP six. Needless to say, an almost 1-10 HP/Weight ratio shows them whose boss...

200HP... wow that's great!
I have a 2.3 TYPE IV that Jake raby built for me but I will not be able to istall it until I have the chassis prepped and perfect. The engine dynod at over 150HP with all of the accessories, exhaust system, etc. on it so I am thinking it will be fun. My Boxster is now 3 days old... when were you coming out with that 3.4 conversion kit? I might have to buy one for the Boxster and one for the teener

pickups
Well, I get the same thing with my 85 Carrera. Except in addition it seems every Dodge Neon driver seems to think he has something for it. I usually just let them go...that is...until they get into about second gear! That way, when I go by them, they don't even know what just happened! It's great fun!

Ran into the same situation with a newer model Mustang today. I think he got the message. I dont drive up to high speeds. But I sure do accelerate. Get it into second and let it rev up switch to third and look in my rear view. They get the message.

I get these racing invitations on the road all the time...from Civics to rusty pickup trucks. I just maintain speed and let them take-off in front of me. There's no point racing them. They know what a Boxster can do.

The guys in pick ups? They're just trying to catch you to check out your wife's (or girlfriend's) legs
