Artic Silver Paint Code

My 1999 986 is missing the sheet that has the options list and paint code that you would normally find under the hood. I'm getting ready to repaint it. But the local auto paint store needs the paint code to mix it. Or a part off of my car. But I'm not sure how close the color that it has repainted with is, to the orignal color and want to use the original color for my repaint. So I need the paint code for the artic silver off of the sticker that is missing on mine. For you folks that have that color on there's. Thanks for the help inadvance.

Thanks, Randy

Randy the code is 92U but that is no guarantee that the paint will match. Take off your fuel filler door and take it in for a match. It's a little tricky to take off and sometimes the hinge breaks but they are cheap plastic.

Harry, Thank you very much. Taking off the gas filler door was my first thought. But this thing has been repainted in three different places at three different times, with different types of paint. As far as I can tell. And I have no other car here to compare it to. So the original paint code to repaint the entire car and doing it the right way, will probably as good as anything. Thanks again!!! Hope things are good in FL. Warmer weather is coming to NM and I can't wait to get the shop door open and blowing paint.

Randy

I had a bumper repainted once on a 8 year old car that had sat outside for at least part of its life. I was told AS was a tough match. The shop did a perfect job. Granted they probably did a half dozen P-cars a day as they were a big shop in a big city.

Ya Mike, I would think so. Silvers on any car are tough to match from what I have seen on the streets. Which is why I'm just going to repaint the whole car. The problems with the paint on mine are. It appears that the rear deck lid and quarter panels and doors where painted with a silver that has more metal flake in it. The drivers door is hammered with chips. The hood and the right front fender where painted separately and the clear coat on the hood is disintegrating. The left front fender is fading and has no clear coat on it. It was a single stage paint. So there is not much point in repainting a few parts. It has never been wrecked and that is what baffles me about all the repainting done to it. A friend of mine is an insurance adjuster with 24 years of experience and he went over it with a fine tooth comb before I bought to see if it had been wrecked.
As far as matching the artic silver perfectly. Unless I park it next to one with the original paint on it. No one will know if it's a little off from the original a tad.

My '99 Boxster AS paint code is listed as 92U/X1. Take a photograph of it and PS it until it is a match and show it to the paint mixer.
