Clutch concern: adjustment or replacement?
Since buying this car with 80k on it, I have put about 3k more. When I bought it, it didn't shift as smoothly as my '97 did but that only had 24k miles when I bought it & only 36k when it met an early demise. Unfortunately it seems like this one is getting harder to shift into any gear. If I make sure to fully engage the clutch & shift firmly, it's not too bad. However, if I don't press the pedal to the floor or if I casually shift, it doesn't snick into gear like it should.
I am sure it's not this much different just because one was a 5-speed & the other a 6-speed but I am just looking for opinions on where you think I'm headed: new clutch? or is there something I should be checking/adjusting first? I did check the brake fluid reservoir in the front truck (frunk?) & it's topped right up. I haven't bled the system because I would think there'd need to be a leak for there to be air in it. Ideas of what to check first? Second part, this is my daily driver that won't see track time (unless I do the fun laps on the Blue Ridge Boxster Run!) so what are my best options for replacement clutches if/when I do replace it? Thanks all!

There is no way to adjust the clutch, it is hydraulically operated...........

I've heard that a bad motor mount can cause shifting problems but I'd think you'd also have the other symptoms of a bad mount along with it (3k vibration, clunks). At 80k you may very well need a new clutch and I'd stick with the OEM part.

buy, from our host, a clutch kit OEM there is nothing better and have someone competent install it for you. If you procrastinate you might then have to add a very expensive flywheel to the mix.
BTW mileage has less to do with the condition of the clutch than the way it was treated during it's life span.

Yeah, Pelican has gotten most of my orders; just got a box Thursday with parts for both the BMW & the boxster!
I am thinking of trying the replacement myself. I've read through the project in Wayne's book. The biggest concern for me is that I don't have a lift so I'm going to be on jack-stands....not good for pulling the transmission. I may be able to use a friend's shop but that limits when I can do it & what happens if I get in & need to order something else! Harrycb, I completely agree with you; I have no idea how the PO treated her.
