oil pressure relief valve

I'm replacing the oil pressure relief valve and can not find the torque spec's. Does any one know? Not in Bentley and Wayne's book don't have it. Thanks, Dave

25 Nm or 19 Ft lb. You will also need a new sealing ring for it.

I'm curious... was it malfunctioning? I've just secured it snug and sealed.

Thanks for the info on the torque spec. Sometomes on starting the engine, there is a little noise, for about 1 second. The person that used to work on the car in Wisconsin told me it could be the pressure relief spring as he has seen them break.T he new piston is chamfered slightly on the top and will not stick as the old ones did somtimes.

I haven't done it yet but I'll let you know. I think it will take longer to get the car up in the air than it will to change it out. Dave

OK Gentlemen, this is what I found when I replaced it today. No problems! I did notice though that there was not a washer between the nut and the oil pump body. So, now my question is install the new items without a washer or put the new washer in? I worry about the thickness of the washer reducing the pressure the spring exerts on the piston. Do we all over think this stuff? Dave I do have 101 Projects for your Boxster.

Dave,
If you are worried that the seal reduces the spring rate, are you also worried without the seal it increases the spring rate?
I would look at it this way, if it leaks put a seal on it.
There should be a seal on it

As I did not see anything wrong, put it back the same way it came out. Runs good, no leaks and no noises. New motto, If it isn't broken, don't fix it! Thanks for all the help. Dave
