Boxster seat cushion

With my '03 986S having ~90k miles, the driver's side seat cushion seems rather flat and lacking in, well, cushion. This is particularly evident when compared to the passenger side. Has anyone had their seat cushion refreshed? What is involved? Would this likely be a simple fix for an upholstery shop? Sadly, changing to some super-cool sport seats is not an option...

Why not just swap cushions?

Because then I have to listen to my passenger complain?

Looks like it's possible to get a new cushion. I suppose an upholstery shop could install that pretty easily.

Before I would purchase parts from the most expensive place that sells Porsche parts online. I'd just take it to an upholstery shop and see what they would charge to build it up again. I had the side bolsters in the seats of my last Porsche, (944) for less than 100 bucks here in ABQ. Although that was years ago. Well worth the time to investigate.

Ah, okay. Misunderstood the problem. With the rest of your post, thought you were going the cheapest route. Swapping would help "even out" the wear.

Appears the lower cushion foam is $87 from our host?

Thanks for the replies. I will talk to a local shop and see what they recommend. Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this issue. The main problem is I tend to not think about it until I get in the car...

The $87 foam is for cars without heated seats, it's $140 for those with. I do have the heated seats and don't want to give them up!

Just to follow-up in case anyone cares... it was not the foam! The webbing that holds the foam in place had split, and that was allowing the foam to squeeze out the bottom.

Local shop sewed in some new webbing and things are as they should be.

Well, unless you count that the seat-height lever was busted in the repair process

Since I pulled the seat out, they charged me two hours labor to dismantle the seat, do the repair, and put it back together. Of course, everything is expensive here, so it came in just under $200.
