That is the way it's suppose to be. If you don't lock the doors. They should turn off after a few minutes. Its 'in the owners manual. I just do not remember how long. I remember when I bought mine I thought. Oh a problem. Just the way it is. They should be dimmer. If they do not turn off after a bit. Then ya. You have a problem.

Thats the problem, if i dont lock the doors the interior lights will trun off after a few minutes but the intrument lights stay on ?? the only way to get the instrument lights to turn off is to lock the car with the FOB. i guess i have a problem but just dont know how to solve it

Mine stay on longer than the interior lights but do shut off after a while. I'd be worried if I came back the next morning and they were still on! But they do eventually shut off...at least, mine do.

Seems like I read in my manual that they stay on four minutes.

If they flat out won't go out, you most likely have a bad ignition switch. The ignition switch can cause all sorts of weird electrical stuff to start happening.

On my 2000S, the interior lights would not go out and the radio had to be turned off manually.

On my 98 (since sold) cruise was flaky and the AC would work great one time and then not work (blower) the next time I started the car...next time it would be fine again! Radio would not work sometimes....you get the idea.
