cruise control

as long as I'm at it...
reading seems to say just need to change the control stalk and plug into the instrument cluster- then quick trip to the dealer and there will be cruise control where ther was not cruise control before!!
Anyone have any info on this?

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy. I did this job last year. A little intimidating at first but Wayne's article takes you through the process very carefully. I also activated the OBC at the same time.

I read and reread Wayne's Project #92 over and over again. There are also some of the needed instructions in Project #91 as far as the steering wheel. I learned a couple more ways that connectors are locked into place and how to disassemble them to add new wires. It took me a while to determine which connector to add wires to at the DME. I almost screwed up the airbag connector as I wasn't sure how to remove it.
When it says to "tape the airbag spring", Wayne doesn't mean to literally tape the spring. I did that which allowed the unit to rotate. Not a problem as it is easy to determine where the fingers need to go. As suggested, I used four wire colors for the four wires running from the DME forward to the dashboard. Wayne also describes how to remove the dashboard easily.
The Project says to make sure you have a bulb at the Cruise Control position in the dashboard. My 2002 already had an LED bulb in place.
Send me a PM me if you want to talk.

Cruise

I have a 03 Boxster. I added cruise and OBC with very little trouble using Wayne's 101 projects for Boxsters. Great addition. A real pain to travel without cruise. It only cost a little more to do the OBC while you are at it. The four lever stalk is cheaper than the three lever stalk. Your DME is not involved on the 03 upgrade.
