Wow. What a thread. Are you guys still answering questions? On my 2000 Boxster S, everything works except when the door key is put in the door and mechanically turned, it does not unlock the door. It does not over rotate, as others have said. The door locks and unlocks fine by the fob or the button on the dash. The door handle works. I'm assuming one of these micro switches you have mentioned. Are those available separately? And any idea where that switch is?
Thanks, Jay __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Door Lock Mechanism / Boxster Door Handle - 986 / 987 |

Sure were still answering questions. I'm just a little behind. I have new speech recognition software that is helping me out though. I'm using it now. As for your car, it would seem that there is a small piece of plastic that may be broken inside the lock mechanism. The microswitch is only work to lower the windows and activate the alarm – they don't actually open the doors. When you are turning your key it turns a cam which is attached to a small plastic piece which is then attached to the door mechanism. This piece often breaks, leaving the key in operable. The solution is to remove the door panel rather flashlight sticky in the lock and turned back and forth while you are observing what's going on inside. It should be obvious at that point. Hope this helps.
