Stock Clutch vs Sport Clutch?
I am about to buy a new clutch. The Pelican kit is about $500. The Sachs sport clutch components are about $1100.
What are the differences? Lifetime wear? Torque handling? Other issues? Is the sport clutch worth twice the price? I'll be installing this with a 3.8 liter engine. Thanks, David |

I'm not 100% positive but I think the sport clutch goes with the light weight non-DMF flywheel only. Even more $$ and some serious trade offs. Research well before taking the plunge.

Assuming this is for a Boxster 6-speed just use the oem Sachs disc & a 987 pressure plate. That's what I use in my 3.6 Box on Michelin Super Sports.
If yours is a track car with serious race tires you may want to spend more. If the Sachs sport clutch disc is sprung then it is for a single mass flywheel only as "73" suggested. |
