Left Rear Sag Options?
Yesterday I noticed my 2000 986 S was sitting lower on the left side. I got out a tape measure to make sure I wasn't just seeing things or it was the slope of the garage floor that made it look that way. Sure enough, the rear left was sitting about an inch lower than the right. The fronts were equal. I pulled up on the wheel well and measured again, and they were equal. At first I was thinking it was a spring problem, but after lifting up and having the ride height go back to normal, I'm thinking it is a strut/shock problem. I've only had this car for a few days and have only driven it a few times for short distances, but didn't notice anything obviously wrong when I was driving. The PPI didn't list anything about springs/shocks/struts, but did say that the "rear trailing arm tie rods have play".
I haven't had a chance to really investigate further, but in looking around online this morning, I'm having a difficult time finding "stock" springs/struts. Everything I find is lowered or meant to be in a matched spring/strut set. I don't really want to overhaul the entire suspension right now (a little cash-poor at the moment) and would like to just replace the stock parts with new stock parts. In a year or two I may consider (and be able to afford) coil overs. Can anyone tell me where I can find suitable stock replacement parts? |
