986 transmission mounts
My 2000 S has a leaking transmission mount, just starting to seep fluid. Has anyone had any experience with the Function First replacement mounts? It appears they replace the innards with urethane. Do they make the vibrations more noticeable?

You will definitely get more vibration and noise. The make great parts but beware if you want it factory quiet. Stick with the stock mounts. You could pick up a used one easy enough.

Do a quick search. You can use the ENGINE mounts from a 993 (I think it is 993, Remember the 911 engine is behind the tranny). It is sold as the actual mount and not the aluminum bracket/mount like if you were to buy the Boxster part. You just reuse the bracket on your car now. About 1/2 the price, but remember that if one is bad the other isn't far behind. Do both. I hear one is a piece of cake to get to and the other is PITA, can't remember which one is which.

There will be a harmonic vibration at certain RPMs with solid/semi solid mounts. The fluid in the stock one acts as a damper. Changing them is pretty easy.
Using the 993 mounts will require you taking a small amount off the top of the mounting stud. There is enough play in the mount to allow it to tap the chassis under hard loads.
