Key fix
I had trouble with my 3 button key. It slowly got harder to operate the locks on the car. In the end it just failed, couldn't open any doors. I thought about a new key. Then I thought, could I fix the key. Opened the key up and found the push button switches were in a bad way, one had fallen apart. I found some new key micro switch buttons on ebay. They seam to be better quality than the original ones. I used a fine tip soldering iron to take the old ones off and fit the new buttons. Its quite an easy fix. A bit of patience and a steady hand. The key works fine now a lot more positive than I remember it ever being. Have a look at the photos below. The micro switches cost "buttons".

You can purchase the half of the key with the buttons from Porsche
996 637 351 00 You can purchase a nice, full color crest for the other half from Porsche 996 637 443 00 For one of the keys on my 2001 the rubber for the main button was almost completely detached from the rest of the key half. I think this alone caused some misfires trying to lock/unlock doors. The new key half fixed this and I didn't need any new circuit board parts. A couple little stalks secure the circuit board to the half with the buttons and if you flex one of them away from the board just a little the board will lift off. Slip the board under the "hook" of one of the stalks on the new key half and again flex the other one and press the board down, and the board will be nicely attached to the new key half. Obviously you observe the original orientation of the board and remember it when transferring the board. The metal part of the key stays attached to the crest half of the key holder and messing with it isn't required.

Micro buttons
I had a look at the link and they look the same Pete.
These are the ones I fitted, with the white button. The other 3 in the photo are the Porsche ones I took out.
