Single row bearing questions

What year did the switch to single row bearings take place, was it 2000, 2001? I read somewhere and can't remember but I think it was maybe a mid year switch, is that correct? How do you tell if you have a single or double row bearing engine?

The switch from dual row to single took place over the 2000 and 2001 model years. There is no proven way to know which is in a 2000-2001 car without taking it apart and looking at the IMS rear flange (single and dual row IMS bearings used a different flange). All of the published VIN number and build date lists have repeated proven to be useless.
