The Joys of Ownership

A little rant.

You know how we all take such pride and joy of caring for out Porsches, right? And how some of us (I might thing most of us) really watch where we park, how we purposely park away from all threats, wax, cover, stroke, you know what I mean right?

Well, how about when you take your car to be serviced. Did they wash the grease from their hands before they drove it? Did they use plastic seat covers? Paper floor mats? Did they leave grease prints on the rims, tires, fender? You know what I mean (I hope), we assume that the ones who take care of our Porsches treat them with the same level of consideration that we do.

OK, on to the rant.

On the Boxster, the roof latch, one would think the mechanic who works on Porsches knows the car, right? You put the parking brake on when stopped, ignition is on, you press the roof latch release center button, the "ring" or latch pull drops, you press the dash button, the roof tucks away, done. Reverse operation to close.

In the winter, those of us with a hardtop (I do), plop it on, latch to lock, unlatch to unlock, put on, or take off.

So, on to the rant.

What kind of idiot causes this kind of damage? ($125 to replace with OEM new flawless, perfect part, just like it was before the idiot ruined it)

All it tells me is that no matter who works on our cars, we have to document with photos with time-stamps to validate, then, when we pick up the car, go over it with a fine tooth comb, assume nobody is as fussy as a Porsche owner (at least as fussy as I am), then make sure, no dings, dents, scratches, damage, anything.

Maybe it's me, but whether it's the Porsche, my Ford, my Lexus or any item I own, take pride in, maintain, etc., nobody can be trusted.

Even after the fact, how does one "accuse" the creator of the damage and resolve? Confrontational to say the least.

This kind of crap makes me want to have my fathers old 1955 Packard Clipper, (3,856 lbs. of pure heavy inducing damage), and park next to the owners car and open my door real, real fast, oooops, sorry.

What else, install clandestine security cameras...

The world we live in......
