Rear Wheel Bearings/H2O Pump - Pricing & Wrench Referral?

First time on the Boxster/Cayman part of the board; be gentle . . . .

Friend who's staying with us has a 2003 Boxster S. Needs rear wheel bearings replaced and H2O pump replaced.

Auto Gallery (P-car dealership in Woodland Hills, CA) quoted $1200 for wheel bearings and $1200 for H2O pump. I'm still unclear whether $1200 is for both rear wheel bearings or just the one side that's currently noisy.

Couple of questions:

1) Are these prices in line with what you'd expect from a dealership? Seems high to me . . .

and

2) Can anyone recommend a good and reputable independent shop who can do this work? Needs to be in the Ventura to Woodland Hills area (e.g., Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Calabasas, west part of SF Valley)?
