Thermostst replacement
I'm replacing my thermostat soon and wondering how much coolant loss there might be when I remove the housing from the block. I may just decide to do a coolant flush if its more than a gallon. Coolant has a muddyish light yellow color and I believe its about 7 or 8 years old.

Both are ticking time bombs. |

I took it out one day and it was kind of hot out. I got stuck in traffic and kept the AC on. The temp gauge never really went up more than it usually does. When I made it back to work I noticed a little coolant smell. I was optimistic that it was the car next to me. After work when I was leaving I started it up and this light on the dash was blinking red on the temp gauge. I get out and see a bunch of coolant leaking out. Towed it home. It wasn't really that hard to replace out. It did take about 1-2 hours to get it out including getting all the crap out of the way and then probably an hour to put it in. Then the time of watching for leaks and all and putting all the crap back in the trunk. If I did it again it would probably take me 2 hours total.
