Hello Pelican! You doing great job with yr projects.
I am from Russia have no access to special tools. So I sould make my tools myself. I use drill to lock TDC and make cam lock for my boxster 99. I lock engine in TDC and lock cams in back left corner, is it correct? Then loosen tensioners and remove cover of IMS. I successfully make IMS remover and extract my old IMS bearing in good condition. But inside bearing I have a some engine oil and I want to replace it. In this case I have tho questions: 1. IMS shaft is not centered. But in most photos it also not centered well. I think it is not big problem, then I reintall cover it centered shaft. I am right? 2. I cannot find replace bearing. Only NSK 6204 Sealed. But You in your project use same baer is not it? So I can made some precision spasers: one 47 mm out and one 20 mm in or I can disassemble one more bear and cut it: Please help me to confirm my ideas- about center of shaft and about spasers Sorry for my English, with best regards, artk __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Intermediate Shaft Bearing Replacement and Upgrade (IMS) - 986 Boxster (1997-04) - 987 Boxster (2005-06) |

The shaft not being centered is Ok, IF the tensioners are removed and the shaft is moving freely. it will have to be centered when you extract the bearing.
I don't have info on the bearing sizes. To be sure, Give our parts specialists a call at 1-310-626-8765 - Nick |
