Repeated Mass Air Flow Failure
I have a Cayman R with the 82 mm throttle body and IPD competition plenum. The car has 22k miles, a fair number of which are on the track. This weekend at Laguna Seca my MAF died (again). The original MAF died at about 13k, I replaced the MAF with a Bosch unit, and this unit started throwing MAF codes about a week ago. I cleaned it which seems to help, and then it started throwing electrical communication and under parameters codes. With the engine running and the durametric monitoring, I plugged and un plugged the sensor and had no readings on MAF sensor. I did have some Mass Air Flow reading, so it must be able to calculate from other places. The bottom line question is why are the MAFs continually failing. I just ordered 2 from you to replace the failed part and have a spare. Any ideas other than bad luck?

I have the same question. Are you running a filter that you oil or are you running a standard dry paper filter?

No, I do have an aftermarket filter (EVOMS) but it does not use oil. I changed the MAF and my error codes are resolved. Still can't figure out why I am now on my 3rd MAF in 23k miles.
