thanks for the clear writeup. It seems like bearing was pretty far gone on the vehicle in the pictures yet still decided to go ahead with the new bearing and flushing the oil without tearing the engine apart. I'm curious to know what was the outcome?Is the engine still running without a rebuild and if so, how many miles has it ran after the bearing replacement?

I am not sure if that was a subject engine, not used for driving but used for the article. So I can't offer any feedback on=f the life of the engine. However, usually when they fail and come apart, metal enters the engine and it is a good idea to rebuild.
