Hi, I have a 1998 Boxster 115000 miles,I am the original owner, never had a problem but now I had to replace the clutch, immediately after the check engine light came on. The mechanic changed the oxygen sensor but the chk engine light came on after 2 miles. He says he needs to reprogram the computer and he needs an hour for that. It does not sound right to me... Do you think he damaged something during the clutch replacement? It is a computer programing problem? Thank you

Unsure, start by telling me what fault code is stored?

O2 sensor codes

are quite explicit. Open, short, tired. No programming involved beyond nuking the code the old one caused which is a 2 minute job any code reader can do. No exotic P-car computer needed.

I'd ask exactly what O2 sensor part number was used and see if it matches the listing here for Porsche part numbers or Bosch since Bosch makes em for Porsche and Porsche reboxes them, spray paints a part number on them and charges a bunch more.

I'd also ask what code was originally thrown that caused the replacement.
