Driver's Side Fuel Rail Hose
Hi all,
I've been doing some fairly major overhauling on my 2003 Boxster base and ran into a problem I hope I can get some help with. Suffice to say, while pulling the driver's side fuel rail, luck wasn't with me and I broke the line while trying to get it off. The other side had no problems. I'm trying to find a replacement for the line and haven't had luck. I tried calling Pelican but no dice so maybe you guys know what kind of line I need. The persona I talked to said I needed to buy a new fuel rail since it comes with it. Porsche dealer says this isn't the case but they don't know what kind of line I need. It's a rubber line with what I think is a nylon insert on a barbed connection. Part of me thinks a regular old braided fuel line with an added clamp would do the job. If the consensus is that would work fine I'll just do that (and less of a nightmare to get out in the future). It's the little short line, maybe 5 inches so I can't just clip a bit off and reuse it. The dealer is wrong, the fuel rail does come with the hose attached.

![]() This is a "Tube" type fitting, with barbs for a one way, one time fitment only. It is not a "Hose" fitting. It is a mechanical type of connection using no clamps or crimps of any kind. A correct repair must be with the same Polyamide tube, and this requires assembly tools to install a new replacement. I do a lot of this work for the early 911's w CIS, and have much of the Polyamide tube used in the Porsche models in stock. I am willing to try re-making this if you send the components to me. While I appreciate the offer, I'm not sure how that would help me. The other end would have to be sent to you which in turn would mean that I'd have to pull the other fuel rail which has even more connections. The other end is a "Tube" fitting as well which appears to be a distributor with two more tube fittings which are then connected to even MORE tube fittings.

![]() This "tube" design is what all Mfgs have gone to. Less cost to assemble at the factory. Next best step is to find a entire used assembly. OR, try hose and clamps and you are on your own. Good luck. Len

I'll make sure I get it right between a hose fitting and a tube fitting next time!
Found some good alternative solutions from some other enthusiast forums. Always great to get help from Pelican! |
