Boxster 986 rubber door seal replacement

Has anyone replaced the rubber inner door seal on their 986?

I'm in the process of replacing the door seal which runs along the car body (not the seal on the door) and a little confused as to how to disengage the rubber moulding where it attaches to the car body quarter panel. At the other end of the seal, I've figured out how to remove the bolt holding the seal at the top of the windscreen pillar by undoing the torx holding the sunscreen bracket.

Its the other end at the quarter panel which I'm concerned about removing and seems as if it is sandwiched between the body and a piece of black metal trim. I'm worried about pulling it out and not being able to push the new seal in its place because it seems really tight in there. Does the black metal trim come off to replace this end of the seal? Or does it just push in?

Any suggestions?
