Maritime Provinces Porsche owners

Hi there
I'm interested in finding out how many 911 owners live in the maritimes. I'm always coming accross more every week. Possibly a future get together for all?

I have just bought my first Porsche a 84 911 Coupe. It is enroute from Boston this weekend . I have a few minor repairs to be completed this winter , can't wait for spring. I am in Stratford PEI

Who's shipping your Carrera? We used Hansesn's when we shipped dad's '86
cab last year.

There was a black 72t for sale in stratford a couple years ago, 12k if I remember correctly.

I used a local trucker, had the car loaded/unloaded by a deck style tow truck . It was hauled in the back of a semi trailer .I went this route for cost savings. I dealt with the customs brokers directly ( AE Horne & Sons). The shipping from boston to PEI cost about $575 and brokerage fees were about another $150.

Worked well , nice dealing with local guys. The only risk is that they didn't tie the car down, they never do ( and they haul quite a few cars) . It wasn't a problem in my case but I might insist on the tieing down in future.

I don't know who had the 72T for sale . I don't remember ever seeing that car. There are very few 911's around here so I would remember it.

I used Hansens last year when I bought mine in Montreal and had it shipped to Halifax. They made a mess of the car, would have been better to use a forklift to move it!!

575 is a great deal, at that price it would be hard to justify doing it any other way. Any pics of the car?

hmm, must be luck of the draw. They used gloves & mats every time they moved the car. It was an open carrier, so it was a bit dirty, but they even put it on teh top so the cab top wouldn't get any oil drips from other cars. Downside was waiting, they picked it up 3 weeks behind schedule.

As for 911s, there are 4 within 5 minutes of me. One longhood (69 911t), a couple mid-years and a Carrera. I've met two of them, great guys and very enthusiastic. I bought a 2.2 longblock off one of them.

There's a Pelican in NS who has his 69 911e for sale right now.

Hey, any of you guys participate in the Armsinc events? I'm trying to bamboozle my dad's Carrera for a DE event this spring/summer.

I am not involved. Any time I looked at their website they didn't look to active.

I am active in it. There are several events that happen during the year. Various tours, shows,etc. The local pca group has about 80 members, but only a handful generally turn out for the events. The runs are always a good time and for the most part, the people are very sociable.

I actually joined the PCA Upper Canada Region because there wasn't much activity with the Acadia Region. I travel there once a month to do DE events.

We should attempt to form a NL Porsche Chapter. I know a few Porsche owners in the St. John's area. We should all get together for a coffee and drive soon - let me know and I will attempt to arrange something - just not at A&W Kenmount Road on Thursday nights - too many muscle cars!

Thanks. That shot was taken in Tors Cove. That's an impressive stable.........do you have three of those here locally? Love to get a look at them some time.

I'm all up for a (non-A & W) coffee cruise. I typically drive early on Sat/Sun mornings to avoid the traffic.........but whatever works is fine with me. My Porsche is still on stands in the garage, just got the mechanicals finished today, tune-up, valve adjust, bleed brakes, cat by-pass. Still waiting on a couple of interior pieces I sent to the US to be recovered should have then in a week or two, and then new windshield......ready to go. But in the meantime, I have something German to drive for a cruise, so I should be OK.
