WWR AutoX1 - Calgary
Here's a few pics of our first autocross.
I learned how rusty I am, and how I never want to be a passenger in a 996 again ![]() The 4WD baby could corner like I've never felt. It was a great night expect for the mosquitos and we all got at least 7 runs. The mini was the fasted car and it was running on slicks, with the WRX coming very close behind. It's too bad there were more "other" cars than Porsches as this was a Porsche club event, but I have to say everyone that was there, and the guys that were running it were excellent people! Sorry there aren't many track pictures, but I was raring to go and I was keen to get back on track so picture taking wasn't my focus (cheap pun). No damages, and just one spinout (an MR2 went off track, got stuck in the mud, but had everyone come out and push it out) Great fun, great people, and no damage to the cars, gotta love it!

Great pics thanks. I see your snow is gone now.
I would like to visit Calgary while something like this is happening. Is there anything going on in the beginning of July? I s/b going there at that time for holidays.

It's there...it's the meager one between the MR2 and the cabriolet. I haven't got the clutch done yet, and I REALLY put it through it's paces a Race City
I am going to wait...lack of money and cross my fingers I can hold off awhile.Bob

Here's the schedule (I should have posted it, but less cars means more runs FOR ME
)The dates for the events are: May 29 - includes beginners lessons June 26 July 31 August 28 September 18 is a tentative date. We can firm this date anytime we feel there is definite interest. If enough people pay in advance we'll hold it. Otherwise we will give it up if it is wanted for another event. If you are paying for all events in advance, you might want to make this a separate payment so it's easy to refund. I will get to the track as early as I can (5:00?) We will need time to tech the cars but we will start runs as early as possible. We will aim to start by 6:00 PM. There will be a MANDATORY drivers' meeting before we start any runs. These events will be run in strict accordance with PCA policies. That means, among other things, no passengers on timed runs. Attendance is limited to the first 25 people for whom payment is received by me. We will give priority to club members before opening registration up to others in the community. Because of the limited number of entrants each person can get lots of runs. The cost will be $30 for PCA members, and $35 for non-members. Payment can be mailed to or dropped off at my house: Ken Tubman 125 Patton Pl. SW Calgary, AB T2V 5E1 Payment can also be dropped off at my office downtown. I work at Veritas at 2200 715 5th Ave. SW. Please include a note with your payment that indicates the event(s) for which your are paying. I organize other events also, and it is not always obvious to me what the cheque is for. Please also include contact information (e.g. email address and/or phone) so I can keep you informed with any announcements or changes (such as cancellation if it's still snowing or where to get for pre-event tech inspections). For any beginners or those with less experience who are interested, let me know and I will organize some instructors at the first event. We can arrange low speed, untimed runs with someone who can help you out with the track and driving. If you want to try but can't make the first event, we can do something similar at the other events also. Just ask. If you have never tried this before, please come out for an experience. It's what our cars are made for! ________________ Ken Tubman ktubman@shaw.ca
