More SC's @ VSCC than PCA AutoX

I attended the Vintage Sports Car Club (I think I've got that name right) AutoX @ Race City last night. It was much fun, as usual, and I managed to sneak in numerous runs.

Early in the evening ('till about 7:00), there were only a handful of cars - so runs were frequent.

There were some interesting cars in attendance. A lot of home built stuff, some of it very well done; like a Sunbeam Tiger stuffed with a stroked 302. A few modded-up Miata's, Z-cars and even a nice 70's Challenger (340 6 pack) that brought back memories for me. Although a seemingly unlikely candidate, the Challenger was running good times - but the leader was a V8 packed RX7 when I headed for home. The RX7 was even nosing out the group 7 type cars.

The lone Porsche for the early part of the evening seemed to be a bit of a time target for some and managed a respectible showing.

Sorry, forgot the camera...

The VSCC people ran the south track backward with a flying finish on the front straight. This finish had me in the 100 mph range at the wire. The finish, along with the reversed track, led to much faster times but, IMHO less challenge than running the other way.

Apparently the VSCC gang have had bad experiences with the car hammering, volunteer/bystander scaring effects of a stop box.

Gophers, grasshoppers and hawks (chasing the odd nailed gopher) were the primary road hazzards while the mosquitos seemed to be a "no-show".

Enough SC's showed up later in the evening to make the 911 count equal or better that of the last PCA event. I made effort to rally the lads for the next PCA AutoX.

You might want to put VSCC events on your AutoX calendar.

Cool,

I didn't get notice until the night before, otherwise I would have been there...
And no camera
