Two Oil Coolers ?
Hi,
When I removed the front right wheel I saw the extra oil cooler that was there, it is very similar to the one on Page 254 Hayes Manual. According to the book the extra oil cooler was installed on 1980 through 1987, well my car is 79 so I guess the first owner got it installed Here's the pic http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1059200484.jpg Then while checking the front suspension I realized there is another fluid cooler, it is right behind the front spoiler, I can't follow the lines so I have no idea what is that for. Here are the best 2 pics I could get, that car is so low that I couldn't get a better angle... The cooler is right above the grill... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1059201605.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1059201620.jpg Do you know if that is an oil cooler? Is that common a common place to install it ? I think I've seen it in other postings but I can't remember... Thanks -J |
I don't know if you got a reply or not , but I think that is an aux. condensor for the A/C. Michael

I think you're right. After reading more on some other threads it looks like it's an AC thing.. (I still have to learn how the air conditioning system works) Thanks! -J |
911E is right, it's for the AC, the one in the wheel well is not stock, the stock one is a "trombone" cooler, (bunch of tube in loops), so I'd say that one was put in by a PO. The Carrera style has a fan in front and more closed in.
Your's looks like it has some leaks in the couplings. Wayne's book would be a good investment for the DIY'er. :D |
