See - Rick Mercer is wrong about Americans...
Well, some of them anyway. No offense to Americans, but they tend to be in the dark about Canada. But look at this quote from the OT board in response to a posting from a Canadian about a voting dilemma similar to having to chose between Dubya and Kerry...
"Hey TurboCarrera I think you're quite a long way off base about your PM - Paul Martin. He has a pretty solid track record in his own political career. Don't forget he recently inherited a buncha garbage - he wasn't the author of that financial boondoggle in Quebec, my friend. I dislike the tactic of voting against someone rather than for someone - but I wouldn't be in that situation in Canada today. The leader of the conservative party in Canada (Harper) is on level ground with GWB on social platforms and that's not a role for Canada to step into. Don't forget there would be Canadians dying in Iraq right now if Harper were PM. Besides, that sponsorship scandal thing is way overblown. Look at how close that referendum on Quebec separation was before you toss stones at the feds for indescriminately dumping bags of money into Quebec to try and buy some favor with voters. Martin is a rare thing - a fiscal conservative with a liberal social agenda - exactly what the world (and the USA) needs today. Now if we could only find a cat like that in America..." |
