Solo I Calgary, it draws near.. anyone running out of wrench time?
I figured I'd throw the offer out there in case anybody needs a hand making short work of any preparation or maintenance in preparation for the Solo I season put on in Calgary by CSCC.
I'd be willing to give anyone a hand if it would help anyone get the remaining jobs done quicker. Last night I added a surprise sway bar bushing replacement job to my last minute to do... |

Don't need any help, but I've got a shopping list from he__ to look after in preparation for the season. I think a few of the non-critical items are going to the back burner.
Look forward to meeting you. Jim |

Looks like quite a good season in the works. 35-40 entries. 7-8 of those are Porsches. The balance of the field is Corvettes, Mustangs, Imports, a BMW or 2, a few proper race cars. Going to be a good time.

I had to order four calipers today as a back up plan to the rebuild I have to do on all four.
Off to post office now to see what arrived for parts. today... *edit* I am headed down to Cut Bank to retrieve an order next week. I'm hustling hard here. Some shop tools aren't arriving on time on my side, so I'm going to have to hit up the yellow pages to see who can clean up my calipers for me before I rebuild them. Just need them and the dust shields blasted. Fun to prepare, but damned.. of all the cars I've bought before, the PPI on this one..totally let me down. Must be nearing 4000 in parts in one month. 35-40 entries sounds like a blast! I'm so looking forward to it, I'll keep on overcoming the surprises on my side. I'm about a week out on recieving seals and a week on the calipers.

I've been tied up and out of town the past 3 weeks... is it too late to sign up for just the driving school?

We are really full now. I can put you on a waiting list, since we always have 1-2 guys who can't make it.

My efforts to be in Solo I might be foiled by a lack of brake line clips. 914-355-665-00-OEM just won't work, twice as thick.
I can't take the car for an out of province inspection w/o clips. Replacements are coming from Porsche next Wednesday and I'm off to forage through my shop waste bin. Maybe I can locate the trashed ones I tossed out and rework them if they are still around. Parking brake cables arrived today so in they go tonight and I can finish up almost everything. Preparing for this Solo I stuff starting on the 28th has been a lot of fun, loved every mechanical effort so far. - two trips to Cut Bank MT for UPS pick up, new pads, new calipers (4 old ones now being sent off for powder coating before rebuild are destined for shelf spares) , rotors, bearings, all related hardware, seals, hardlines, pbrake shoes, pbrake cables, tail light seals, headlight seals, shifter bushing rebuild, marginal suspension bushings replaced in complete, harness bar installation, (belts and helmet still en route), fixed windshield/headlight washer nozzles, yesterday was spent chiselling/grinding/cursing out many stripped from previous owner/mechanic allen head bolts in seat tracks to gain access to the parking brake handle. By Monday I'll just be waiting for the clips, one hardline and one bolt to secure the MAF to the top of its bracket along with the seatbelts. Going to be very close.....

You can do the school in any safe car, it doesn't have to be your race car. That will give you a little extra breathing room to get the track car finished.
