Tires in Ontario

I need new tires for my 84 911 Carrera, 16".
What do you guys have on your cars? Where did you get them? and the big question HOW MUCH..

Just looking for input to see if you are happy with what you bought. I only do street driving, sometimes --- well--- most of the time fairly aggressive, and don't take her out in the rain.

All the discussion on the forum deals with the States and I wanted to find a good source in SW Ontario.

Terry

Hey Terry,

The first thing I did on my car was replace the bald tires. I went the cheap route and ended up with a nice offbrand summer tire that is supposedly a rebadged Toyo tire. I am extremely happy with them (great grip, low road noise and no flat spots throughout the winter) and I only shelled out 55 clams per tire installed and balanced (only 15x7 Fuchs).

If you want a brand name tire but still stay fairly cheap, I recommend the Kumho 712s. I have done a few auto-xs with these tires and they are a very good all-round tire at a great price (comparing to Falkens, Toyos etc.) Supposedly, they don't have a great lifespan but my friends drive their cars hard. I know a few places in Toronto that have good deals but I am clueless about Hamilton area tire stores.

I have read several post's about the Kumho 712's as being a good tire. The problem is that we usually don't put enough milage on the car to make it worth buying really high end tires. I have Toyo Proxies on mine now that came with the car and they are cracking from old age. Enough tread for a couple of seasions. I'd be intersted in a couple of good sources if you would. You can pm me.

Terry

I have B F Goodrich KDW. Not too expensive and they stick well on the track. I got them at Consumer Tire (Caledonia- Lawrence).

Thanks Brian for the reply.

I've been looking at them pretty seriously.
I have BFG Traction t\a's on both of my daily drivers and love them.

I just put Fuzion ZRi on my car. Since it is a narrow body, I went w/ 205/50/ W16 on 7" Fuchs all around. Balanced and mounted on my wheels (off car) incl valves for CDN $137 ea @ Active Green+Ross. I like them.
