child safetly laws

Tried to look it up but was vague. My wife, a nurse so over protective, says in the back for my daughter. She is almost 11 and tall. The back seat of my Porsche is way to small for her. What is the law in Canada,Ontario about kids in the front seat. No air bag.

A subject near and dear to my heart as our first child approaches her first summer with my 911

According to the MTO, kids under 13 are safest in the back seat. Are you sure she doesn't fit? I've sat back there before for a short highway trip. It wasn't comfortable, but I was ok. I'm 5'7, 190 lbs.

Here's the MTO site on kids in cars: (scroll to the bottom for older kids)

To tight if anyone is in the front seat. OK if I move the seat forwards but what I'd like is for here to sit in the fron with me. Question is, sure it's safer but when is she allowed up front.

Well, here's the HTA:
http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/Statutes/English/90h08_e.htm

A quick search of "child" doesn't seem to indicate any law prescribing age in regards to front or back seats. The MTO guide I linked above says:

"Once your child can sit all the way against the vehicle seat back with legs bent comfortably over the edge of the seat, and with the shoulder belt flat across the shoulder and chest, he or she is ready to move from the booster seat to the vehicle seatbelt."

It seems there's no law, one way or the other, regarding front or back, so I'd have to guess she'd be legally allowed to sit in the front seat once she's out of the booster seat.
