Edmonton anyone- need some perspective (will be in Calgary this weekend too)
Looking for any locals with older 911's. This is my first and I am hearing all kinds of noises on a car I have never heard before. I don't know what is normal. How much should the fuel pump wine, what is too much valve noise etc. How should good brakes feel etc.
Anyone up for a drive one of these nights? Would like to hear and see other cars run. Thanks, B.

Hi Bjorn,
Go to the Vintage Sports (VSCCC) this Sat. Jul 28 @ Stanley Park, there you will get to hear a lot of older 911. Go here for more info: http://www.vsccc.ca/europe/poster.htm This is the best event in Calgary for European cars. Good luck!

Hey Bjorn,
These cars are noisy, smell, bumpy, and that's the way they should be ![]() As far as your questions; if you turn the key without starting the car you should hear the fuel pump whine. It's a little loud and sounds like a metallic buzz. The value noises are tricky as they are much louder than a normal car even when adjusted properly. The brakes should be very good, but different from a modern car. I can lock mine up at will if I go in too hard, but as some have called them "{hand of God stopping power}". If you are in Calgary this weekend for sure hit the Euro car show at Stanley Park, it's really good. I would also suggest finding a good mechanic or start hanging around with the Polar region PCA guys....beer and pizza goes a long way

Brakes need some love...
thanks Bob,
The fuel pump sounds right and the valves check out. The brakes don't have the "hands of god" touch. Front are toast and the rotors need machined. I am really hoping that I can bring my car to the show, but will be going regardless. Eurasia is doing the out of province and I need a fresh air fan motor and vents to pass. Prev owner started a sort of RS process, there are cut hoses all over the place. The good news is the motor, trans and suspension are good. I may have to go to the show in the family wagon. You guys going? bjorn
