Nearly here!

This is what it looked like going into the container in Southampton! Had a blast driving it down on all the back roads!

Should be at the Calgary rail yard Monday 17th. Then the fun starts. ....Customs agro +$$$...paying to take the container to a yard that can put it on the ground $$$$ paying the yard to put it on the, ground then back on the trailer chassis ..$$$$$..soil inspection.$$$. OOP inspection..$$$$.
The things we go through for these bloody cars!

Looks like she will be worth all the aggravation. Pretty little coupe. What year? Did you buy her or are you moving with her?

Very nice indeed.

Is that a right hand drive 911?

RSREE 09-16-2007 10:05 AM

Forgive my ignorance - but I have to ask - you had to go all the way to the UK to find a (looks like a) 74 911 Coupe?

Robert

Yes, it's RHD. 2.7 1977.

It's a long story as to how & why I got it. I will post the full story when it is safely in my garage!
The short story is that it was owned by my best mate. He bought it in 1987.
In 1996 he took it of the road to do a complete re-build. He got as far as doing the engine, then due to getting back into racing he left it in the back of his workshop.
He died two years ago last February.
Although it had been stood for 11 years, I could not let it go to any "Tom, Dick or Harry" so I bought it from the estate & paid for the rest of the restoration.

I have a lot of history tied up in that car, I even drove it on my wedding day 20 years ago!(see Photo).

Cool Story. Shows that these aren't just cars to some of us. I used my 911 as my wedding car too.

Nice suit btw :)

Yeh, It was a nice suit, unfortunatly it seems to have shrunk..........

Great story, be sure to tell the whole one once the car arrives. Congrats, looks like a nice car!

Great story. Don't forget about the PCA club when it gets to you.

Still waiting!
C.P. Rail is not the fastest form of transport!
Might get to the Calgary yard Friday......

911JC911 09-19-2007 10:42 PM

Waiting is brutally tough. My car was quoted as taking 2 weeks, it was here in 10 days and not one day past by without me checking online as to where it was. Looks to be worth the wait.....

speedracer 09-28-2007 08:02 AM

Holt S%^T that looks good. Congratulations, and I agree with these cars not just being cars to some of use. Lots of love and life in Pcars I find, especially with many folks I've met since who have the same passion as I do.

Congratulations, that's a beautiful piece.

Beauty! Glad she got here safe and sound.
