Why not just take out a loan and use your car as collateral?

Have you looked into a loan as Stealth suggested? That seems most logical. If that doesn't work, do you have any family that could buy the car from you for 1/2 it's value, then you could buy it back from them in a few weeks? A pawn shop will likely give you a couple grand at most and are usually slime to deal with.
