Wish us luck!
Hey there everyone-
Just wanted to let you know that Vancouver-based Bullet Racing will be competing in next weekend's 24hrs of Daytona, raising money for the BC Children's Hospital. You can read more about it on our web site, at http://bulletracing.ca (I'm the team manager and webmaster). Just hoping that all of you bored guys glued to the TV next weekend will wish us good luck as you see car #44, with the big maple leafs on it, doing our best to bring home a podium. If you really want to help out and show your support for Canadian Porsche racing, it'd be great if you'd consider a tax deductible donation to the BCCH... link is on our web site. Also, if you plan on being down there, be sure to find us in the paddock and say "hi". Oh... Global TV News is doing a 6-minute segment on us on Monday night. Not sure if it'll just be local (Vancouver/BC) or if it'll make it to the National level, but be on the lookout for it. ...jeff http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1232310668.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1232310684.jpg |

Thanks JB.

Awesome car, good luck to you and your team!

Good luck Jeff, but I have to wish even more luck to TRG/Riegel Tunning No.65 as it's Hima Mayer's car and I think he's doing some of the driving.
He's a local Porsche Mechanic/Garage Owner/Racer and a great guy. I wish both teams the best and be sure to bring home some bling! |
Hey all, I visited Jeff's website and noticed that they have rather modest goals in trying to help out the BC Children's Hospital. Would be great to see those of us on here helping them out financially as well. Very worthwhile cause as we were all Children once even tho that is but a distant memory for some of us!!

Fantatstic race. DP class was an epic finish, with Montoya and Donahue battling right to the end after 24 hrs! GT class top 3 I think were GT3's. |

Let's just say we went, we raced, and we had our asses kicked. But we never gave up, and we finished.
Before the race we had to rebuild our transmission to incorporate '09 gear sets, and ended up swapping transmissions 3 times. During the race, we had the following: -- busted lower front right control arm due to an off-road excursion out of the bus stop -- broken rear right wheel, rear bumper, and tie rod after a spin and touching-of-the-wall at the bus stop -- 6 (yes I said SIX) swapped out axles. Common theme for most Porsche teams. -- broken driver ID plug (PITA fiddly wiring stuff fixed in pit lane) All in all, we finished 19th in class, 30th overall. We spent somewhere between 120 and 150 laps in the paddock fixing "stuff", but thankfully most of it was under full-course cautions. But we finished, and raised money for the Children's Hospital. So all is good! You can see a whack of pics at http://pics.bulletracing.ca Here are some highlights: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170466.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170474.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170485.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170493.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170502.jpg The biggest PITA was being gridded right in front of Patrick "Dr. McDreamy" Dempsey. The throng of people trying to get his autograph and/or photo was insane. We had to set up a human shield around our car as people were pushing up against it and bouncing stuff off of it (cameras, etc). One guy tried to partially climb up onto our car to get a better picture. People are annoying some times, you know? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170510.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170516.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1233170525.jpg |

Asses kicked ? I don't think so .
To even contemplate going there is something. All the planning ,all the meetings, all the time away from home. To get there ,get through practices and qualifying, with nerves still intact is something. To get through the inevitable unknown ahead of time breakdowns and to be prepared for anything is quite a feat. To keep going after breakdown after breakdown and when it becomes obvious that now just finishing is best you can hope for , is something! I have not met you Jeff (yet) but I do know a lot of the guys and even without the extra incentive that the KIDS gave you they are all REAL racers and don't give up unless it's catastrophic . So... Asses kicked I don't think so . I think you guys went to the big show ,played the hand that you were dealt and did your possible best. I as a supporter and someone who knows what it takes to accomplish what you did couldn't ask any more out of you . Congratulations on you finish. Bruce |
