Dumb Questions from South Center
I called to order a few parts for my 77 911 today.
1. I was asked if my 77 911S was an SC. 2. I was told that there were 5 different clutch cables used on 77 cars - why is there only one listed on the Pelican site? 3. I was told that my serial number didn"t make sense...

No offence to South Center, when i was looking for parts from them i ran into the same problems, they seemed confused, i called up Pelican, cant remember who i talked to, but they talked me threw everything, even brought in a few other guys working there to verify, to be honest i wont even call South Center any more, to me its about service, i am sure there will be lots of others saying how good they are, and they very well maybe, but i have never had any problems with pelican
I think if you do a search in the forms there is a site on serial numbers to verify model, trans, etc.. Good luck 79 911SC 09 Mini Cooper S 08 F350SD PCA Member |

Let me guess, South Centre is a dealership? Don't buy parts for these old cars at the dealership - most of the guys there are clueless about older cars, unless you happen to get lucky and get that one older guy who's been there forever. At least that's the way it is around here.

Chris - I have spent thousands at our host and even visited the head office once.
I needed a clutch cable and 2 heater hoses and with the current exchange rate and the time it takes Canada post to get the crap to me it was cheaper to go with the dealer on these 3 items.

I understand exactly what you mean, and re-reading my post, maybe I should have said "make sure you have the right part #"!
Are there no independent shops in Calgary that can get parts in? There's one 20 minutes from here that can get pretty much any part in, usually faster than the dealership and cheaper. I always go there when I need it faster than I can get it from Pelican.

I always check if Worldpac has stuff available. For example, I'd check here:
http://parts.autopartsonlinecanada.com/parts/apocanada/parts.jsp?year=1977&make=PO&model=911--004 If the parts are available there, that means just about anybody can get them (too bad they don't have a cross reference system for Porsche part no's though), then I get Concept-1 to order the parts in for me. Usually is a few bucks more than the online place, but they don't charge shipping, and it's usually quick.

Uncle.
The folks @ southcentre are good as long as you give them the exact part number. The PET they have on screen is the same as the one everyone knows so it's not very clear. Don't forget to give your PCA number to get your discount. If I remember correctly those heating hoses are the same as the VW so you can try any VW shop in town..

I needed these for my C4 under the dash. As it happens, I also needed heater hose (supplied by Fritz) for the 77 engine reinstall.
