which octane rating
For those Canucks with a Carrera 3.2 engine, which octane rating are you using from the pump in Canada? I've read the threads on the different rating systems..I'm just curious what rating most Canadian 3.2 owners are using.

I just run premium in the SC (3.0).
For the amount of fuel I burn in a season, it really doesn't cost much more. |
While I don't own a P-car (yet) I've always tried my best to avoid stations which have ethanol in their fuels. With that being said, I've only ever filled up with Shell 91 (or was it 92?) and Chevron 94. They are the only fuels which are ethanol-free to my knowledge here in Vancouver.

They require 91. And the above poster is correct. Shell's premium (at least here in MB) contains no ethanol.

I also think, and have had the reason explained to me once, that it also depends on the altitude at which the car is operating. At higher elevations like Calgary or most of the prairies, 91 is good. For lower areas such as Vancouver, something like 92 is better. With that having been said, when I'm in BC I always fill up with 94 from Chevron.

The thing is its only a 91, whereas in Europe, V-Power is 100 (equivalent to a 95 in our rating). But then, we really don't need it. |
