End June Road Trip

Some of the guys and a few gals did our traditional end of June road trip. Always need to squeeze this in before school gets out for the summer and the campers/trailers plug the roads.

Al lead the charge and got us onto as many back roads as BC and Washington offers within a 3 day drive. We covered some 2000 kms door to door. We had 10 hours of glorious driving each day.

Alf and Gail joined us after the fun they had on the CanAm run a couple weeks ago. They own a beautiful Arena Red 993 Turbo with only 40,000 kms on the clock.

I recall us maxing out at 8 cars and dropping to 3 for the last leg home. Some of the back roads were unbelieveable....

The guys dared me to post some of the flower pictures I took. They were reminding me this was a Porsche tour........

The weather on the wet coast has been very cool and damp so far this year. We had to endure some heavy downpours. I confirmed that Targas do leak. I had a regular stream of water on the driver side during the heaviest rains.

Driving in formation on Friday morning.

Just completed one of the best gems BC has to offer. Didn't have time to snap pics along this one - had my hands full of steering wheel and shifter.

Route discussion....we should this way, I want to consider the other direction, well that wasn't in the plan...............

We did a little off pavement exploring. Driving on the wrong side of the road because the uphill was smoother.

Proof that wild Porsches live in the area.............

What happens when a full bottle of Coke falls behind the seat during the twisties and the seat is pushed back? OMG - the detailing work will be extensive.........the look on Guy's face tells the story.

When we hit the next rest stop, the debate was on what this road was called. I told everyone I would get a picture to prove it was SHUTTY. Not the many colourful combos they came up with........

Our usual stop after another gem. This one in Washington.

Crossing back into Canada, the guard asks me how do I know these people. I should have told him the truth....."Through Pelican".

Speaking of border gaurds. I need to suggest you never, never, never have a small pack of Cuban cigars (legally purchased in Canada) sitting in the glove box when you enter the USA. Let's just say the hour wait, discussion and watching the $50 worth of cigars get destroyed was truely painful.

The long final leg on the freeway. Always a challenge after so many miles of really great roads.

Rosie was a dirty girl again this weekend...............

Thanks for inviting me guys. Even tho' I grew up in the area I wasn't aware of a couple of roads
and the sites that were available for viewing. This is the mileage on my car at the start of the kootenay tour.

Here we are waiting after a short ride on the Needles Ferry.

Al's brother's toy

And the Kootenay River

And Duncan Dam

And the last one, a pic of the tire tread left. Not a very good picture but one taken with the largest smile.

Looks like a blast, I was on a few of those roads this spring but not in the 911... in Donna's Bimmer. I really wish I could've made this one but non Porsche commitments have really reduced my seat time this year. Hope to go on another one in the not too distant future. Cheers

Too bad I missed this one. I had some fuel issues and knew I wouldn't get them sorted out in time. Glad everyone had a blast.

Just being an a$$ hole. Oh - would you believe, breaking in the new Yokos. I did ensure I was far enough ahead of Hans to not spit rocks at him.

In all seriousness though...........it is amazing how the heavy back end gets a pendulum effect once it starts to swing. I was completely off the gas once I had the wheels spinning and she started the first drift.

I was laughing so damn hard my eyes watered up. Great fun.
