Porsche 930 Targa

Hi guys

Anybody know the history behind this car?

1988 Porsche 930 Targa for sale by Queen Compact Cars in Toronto.
Previous owner was president of Autostyle in Toronto.
Had some work completed at AutoSelect in New Market.

Just want to get some background on it if anyone knows anything about it.

Thanks in advance.

J

After about 6 weeks of consideration, I decided to buy the 930 Targa.
I take delivery Tuesday. I will be sure to post lots of pics. I would like to thank Harm for coming to check out the car on Saturday.

Pick car up tomorrow. Plan on going over every inch of car with my camera. I want to document the car, and get Pelican members opinions on future repairs and mods.
I traded a 2010 Shelby for it. I believe I got a great deal. Dealer was Asking $45999. My local Ford dealer was only going to give me $35000.
I also saved alot of tax by doing a trade.
Car had a PPI completed, by Downtown Porsche in Toronto. All items have been fixed.
Can't wait. Stay tuned guys.

Regards

John

1988 Porsche 930 Targa

I am now the proud owner of a 1988 Porsche 930 Targa. Picked her up last nite.
Wife decided to join me, we had a great trip home from Toronto to Hamilton.
This car has some legs. Had her up to 180 kms coming over the Burlington Skyway.

I have a plan in place to become familiar with the car. I've started by cleaning up the exterior. One of my first jobs will be to get the wheels refinished at Wheel Wizards here in Hamilton. Wheels have a bit of curb rash.

Next onto the Interior. Leather protect seats dash. Not sure what to do about the window seals. They are alittle rough. I'll post a pick tomorrow.

Then turn my attention to the engine. Here's my list so far. I'll tackle easy stuff first.
New plugs, wires, VR Sending Unit, Fuel Filter, Engine needs Oil Pressure Sending Unit, valve adjustment,
change brake fluid, change tranny fluid, Wevo Shifter, etc.
The list continues to grow. It's going to be a great summer.

Anybody in GTA willing to give me a hand with the valve adjustment?

This would be my first time on a Porsche.

Have a great weekend.

John

Congrats on the new car.

For valve adjustment, read this thread: valve adjustment

This explains the 'backside' method.

If your old Shelby was white it is now sitting inside the dealership parked in the same spot inside where your new 930 was.
The valve adjustment is easy. Just make sure you adjust the valves when the car is cold. The Porsche valve adjustment tool is a must.

Looks like a couple evenings worth of work. What are you going to do this weekend once these are finished??

These cars are very simple to work one. Grab a Bently manual and have fun.

Cheers.
