A Mad, Mad, Mad Tour for 2013
It's been a while since I've posted here, we've travelled, moved and been living at our cabin in the hinterland while our new house was being built. Needless to say the P car hasn't seen a lot of activity in the last year.
Now that we're finally settled and involved with the local Porsche Club again,I'm already thinking of the 2013 driving season. No this will not be an official PCA event, it may be hard enough to get more than a couple of cars for this one. Prince George BC to Whitehorse YK. 1619 Km on paved two lane road. Here are some details, using a 5 point scale. Corners 5 Straights 2 Scenery 5 Visibility 3 Road surface 4 Hwy toll collectors 1 Hazards, Large mammals on road 4 I would guess a week back and forth and probably 2-3 more to the rendezvous point and back home. A 10 day mid summer trip. I know, a mad idea, but it may be the Porsche trip of a life time, and I can't stop thinking about it! ![]() Please do not post on this thread, follow this link for updates. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/pacific-northwest-us-wa-id-ut-hi-ak/726596-mad-mad-mad-tour-idea-2013-a.html "I may be crazy, but it keeps me from going insane." Having done that drive 20 or 30 times I highly recommend it - especially if you have never done it. And even more so if it has been a while since you last did it.
If you get interest from east of the Rockies it would be good to plan on a meet up at Mile 0 in Dawson Creek as Prince George could be a tad out of the way. Sadly for me, I can not subscribe to this in 2013 - all booked up. 2014 is doable. jb

From what I gather, Rolf (or Deb) is not talking about going the Alaska highway route through Dawson, but rather Highway 16 west from PG to Kitwanga and turning right onto highway 37 and continuing up that way.

That too is a fun route. Could be a grand circle route if so desired.
